Hear ye, Hear ye, The Royal town of Suttonia is in danger. The Giant Blunderbore wants to destroy the green belt to build a nuclear power plant! Meanwhile, times are tough for Trott’s dairies and they have to sell their favourite cow, Daisy, at the Vintage Fair.  When all seems lost, a beanstalk grows in Sutton Park! Follow Jack and his daft Mum, Dame Trott, as they climb the beanstalk, defeat the giant and save their best friend, Daisy the Cow. Packed with songs, slapstick, silliness, audience participation, and all the fairytale magic of traditional pantomime! Come and join the Fe-Fi-Fo-FUN!

The pantomime will see fun for all the family, young and… not so young. Keep your eyes peeled also for details of auditions later in the year for local young performers to be part of the junior ensemble for the show.

Sutton Coldfield Town Hall Venue Manager, Nick Furlong, tells us “we are delighted to be working with TaleGate, bringing their esteemed reputation for pantomime on a grand scale, but with local references and charm at it’s heart. Pantomime for a local community like ours is incredibly important. It is many young people’s first experience of theatre, and for some, their only experience annually. I am thrilled that we will be bringing audiences the timeless classic, Jack and the Beanstalk this Christmas – the excitement is already palpable! The new future of panto here at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall is going to be something special.”

James Worthington, TaleGate Theatre Productions Artistic Director adds, “This Christmas, Sutton Coldfield Town Hall will be transformed into the royal town of Suttonia. Oh yes it will! A bustling market town with a GIANT problem. ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ was first presented at London’s Drury Lane in 1819 and has continued to be one of the most popular pantomimes presented. With magic, adventure, thrills and spills- what is not to love about this wonderful tale. Together we will bring this story right up to date with pop songs for all ages, dazzling special effects and more glitter than milk in the diary. With Sutton Coldfield Town Hall’s beautiful venue and TaleGate’s pantomime know-how, the future is sparkling for panto in Sutton.”

The Town Hall will also be proudly featuring access performances during the run, in the form of a relaxed performance, aimed at those with additional needs and sensory challenges; as well as a signed (BSL) performance, featuring an interpreter on stage.
